Bio: Lou Von Hoff is a portrait painter currently living in Portland, Oregon. She has also lived in Singapore, Switzerland, Hong Kong, LA & NYC. In 2013 Lou graduated from Pratt Institute School of Art and Design with a BA degree in Art History. Her work in portraiture derives from experimenting with photography, film, illustration in oil pastels and abstract figure painting.
Today Lou continues to explore the expression of the human body in representational form. When she is not painting, Lou models for a drawing studio at a local visual arts guild.
Artist Statement: I aim to capture a moment in time of a thought or feeling — either from myself or my subject matter — through the use of color, patterns and textures within my acrylic paintings. I paint because my soul wants to remember those that have inspired me to become the artist I came here to be. RIP CC is a portrait of a friend who is no longer with us. She passed away about four years ago. There is speculation that her boyfriend pimp had something to do with her death. We only knew each other for a brief period before I left LA. The image reference I used for this painting is from when I photographed her the summer of 2019 when we met. RIP CC is a commemoration of CeCe’s peculiar beauty that still lingers on to this day in this piece…
